Welcome featured artist Roben-Marie Smith. Robin-Marie is a fabulous prolific artist in the mixed-media / art journaling world. God has faithfully and abundantly blessed her in the midst of her faithfulness. She recently returned from a mission trip to Honduras and shares some thoughts with us:

“If you don’t ask, you won’t receive!”

Seems simple enough, right?

In Matthew 17:20, we read:  And He said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.”

Do you not ask because of lack of faith?  Do you think that God does not care about what you need? Do you not ask because you feel He does not hear you?  Do you ask with pure motives?

Have you seen the size of a mustard seed?

My word is Shared and it resonates with me as I reflect back on a specific moment during my recent mission trip to Honduras — there were many, but this one I will share here.

At our last clinic, we had to limit the time to 4 hours – we had until 1 pm, but unbeknownst to us, the entire community knew we were coming.

When the bus started going up the hill, we passed hundreds of people lined up to see us. We were worried that we would not have time to serve all the people waiting.

When we were about to start, I remember saying “We’ve got to pray about this first, and ask for specifically what we need and what we want.”

We prayed that we would be able to see all of the people that truly needed to see the doctor and get medicine and that we could do it all in the time that we had.

It wasn’t the safest area, so one of our guys stood outside, monitoring the line and keeping everyone calm. Just before 1 pm, he came in and said: “We’re done.”  I couldn’t believe it – we’d managed to see all those people in such a short amount of time.

We shared a moment in prayer to bring our request to God to not only take away our worry and anxiety over the situation, but to allow us to show God’s love to those people.

It was not by anything we did that allowed us to finish on time or see everyone who needed to be seen.  I am reminded of one of my favorite verses, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)”
